Let someone rescue your old computer
If you're about to throw away an old computer, please consider donating it to someone who wants it. There are thousands of classic computer collectors around the world. They will be glad to arrange to pick up your old computer, manuals or software.
Dumping it in a landfill helps no one. Sending it to the scrapper might net a few dollars, but if you insist on payment I'm sure you can find a collector who will pay you more than the scrap metal dealer.
An excellent resource is the Classic Computer Rescue List. This is a worldwide list of classic computer collectors who would be glad to arrange to pick up your old computer.
However, like every other computer collector, I highly recommend that you contact me first. :-)
If your old computer is something I'd like, I can arrange a UPS "call tag" to arrange free pick-up in the United States. I may be willing to pay shipping for other items in far-away places.
